After a week-long jury trial in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, another Sinclair Law Firm client prevailed winning back control of his disability insurance benefits, receiving a half-million-dollar verdict for past-due benefits plus interest, and securing his future disability benefits for years to come.

After a nearly three-year litigation battle during which the insurance company (Principal Life Insurance Company) sought to obstruct and delay at every turn, our team obtained the crucial documentation to prove that Principal Life had ‘changed the rules’ by rewriting policy terms in its own manuals and seeking to retroactively change disability insurance policy terms.

Principal Life insureds should beware of the company’s tactics and seek legal representation as soon as possible when dealing with disability insurance claims denials. The disability insurance market is fraught with insurance companies seeking to get out of insurance contracts sold decades ago as claims rates (and losses for the insurance companies) skyrocket.

Commitment to the client and to the pursuit of the Constitutional Right to a Jury Trial under the 7th Amendment helped bring our client justice and expose one more insurance company to the light of day.
